A shorter trip for those who can't spare a full two weeks. We stay in the delightful village of Hexham, within easy reach of many of the remains of Hadrian's Wall. We'll also show you Bamburgh castle and the island of Lindisfarne, access to which is by a causeway that is passable only at low tide. We will also visit an outstanding stately home at Cragside, built by one of Britain's leading 19th Century industrialists. For a change of pace, but staying with the industrial theme, we'll also spend a day at the Beamish outdoor Industrial Museum, and a day in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
