B&B Tours of the British Countryside

Two-Center Walking Tour

June 26, 2010 & September 25, 2010

$2795 (14-day) or $1995 (10-day)

(Price does not include airfare)

The best way to appreciate the true character of the two National Parks we visit on this tour is to get off the bus and walk!

Designed for those fit enough to walk up to 15 miles in a day, and carry a daypack with lunch and wet-weather gear, These walks are all led by an experienced hill-walker. We will spend a good part of our time exploring the footpaths leading along idyllic river valleys, over farmer's fields, up rugged hills, and down again to a welcome cup of tea.

To give your legs time to recover, though, we'll leaven the mix with visits to some of the local attractions. After all, all work and no play makes Jack a dull fellow!

Our meeting point is Manchester Airport, and we'll take a shuttle from there to our first base, in the Peak District village of Bakewell. From here we'll spend several days exploring the Peak District National Park, with walks ranging from gentle strolls alongside a river to strenuous ascents over the rough country of the Dark Peak. In a similar vein, our second base of Skipton will give us access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and such natural wonders as Malham Cove and Goredale Scar, Pen-y-Ghent and the Buttertubs.

Those on the 10-day option will be shuttled back to Manchester airport from Whitby, while the 14-day option will have a few more days to enjoy the delights of Yorkshire - and that's more than beer and fish & chips!
